Teach Me Mommy
Published in Paperback by Writers Digest Books (August, 1985)
Authors: Jill W. Dunford and Timothy Armstrong
Average review score:

The best single pre-school resource
I bought my 1st copy 13 years ago when my girls were 1, 2.5,& 4. I went through 2 copies on them. In my opinion this book is the best sanity-saver for parents of multiple small children. The complete activity plans and varied themes make planning a snap and the children loved every one. I would often use just sections for a wet or cold day and when I was called last minute for Sunday School I could draw on this book knowing it would be a success. I am buying a 4th copy for a friend with 2yr old triplets.

Teach Me Mommy
This book is wonderful for mothers seeking to preschool their children at home. It's very comprehensive. The subjects are in sensible order and each lesson is laid out so that planning and presentation are very simple. We have enjoyed it.

Great guide for home preschooling.
I first checked this book out at the library. I found it to be invaluable. It is the perfect guide for parents who want to teach their kids preschool curriculum at home. It is full of subject ideas and very easy to follow. You don't have to be a skilled teacher to do it. I love it.

Veterans' Benefits : A Guide to State Programs

A Guide to State Programs
The book was easy to read, and not complicated to follow and understand the instructions.

Long overdue book
My State Representative has a copy of this book and we are working on improving benefits for the State of Oklahoma. Our benefit book now has thirty two pages and seven of those are dedicated to license plates.
All PX's and BX's should have this book available to all future veterans so they can get ready to return to civilian life in their home state or any state they decide to live in.
Every Veterans Organization should have this book to have informed service officers to help veterans. Also this book should be used by service organizations to help them improve their own State's benefits.
My sincere thanks goes to Mr Armstrong & Rizzuti for the work put into this book

The guide you have been waiting for.
Very informative and comprehensive , a thourough and well organized list of state programs to aid any vet looking to simplify their search through the quagmire we call governmental agencies.

Wanderers All: An American Pilgrimage
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (May, 1977)
Author: Gregory Armstrong
Average review score:

An Astonishing Book
This is one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. It's the investigation of a personal mystery, genuinely dramatic and full of stunning surprises. A great story by a writer with perfect pitch, a voice that has no false notes.

A must read!Poignant and gripping.
A wonderfully written, true story of a man's search through painful family history (including parental neglect and abandonment). Through it all, the strength and resilience of the human spirit prevails. Intensely personal autobiography, astounding for its clarity and its insights into how the past affects our present lives, even when we are unaware of it.

A really remarkable book...
I read this book years ago and have never forgotten it... the writing is beautiful, and the story is incredible... a trip of discovery from loathing and terror to love.

The 360 Degree Brand in Asia: Creating More Effective Marketing Communications
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (February, 2003)
Authors: Mark Blair, Richard Armstrong, and Mike Murphy
Average review score:

A book that really know the Asians
The book is a really easy reading and the best thing is about its understanding of Asians. The 360 degree branding concept is especially good at simulating readers to think about the unlimited possibilities of what a brand can do. Being an Asian, I am tired of reading books from Westeners who actually don't recognize the characteristics of people living here. This book, on the contrary, impresses me by discussing some interesting differences of Asians against Western people in the first chapter. The observations are deep and valid. And I truly believe that this understanding is crucial to every one working in the Asian branding industry.

A great read for anyone even vaguely interested in branding
I really enjoyed the book, and thought that it was a very easy to read, easy to understand book about branding in Asia. It's examples are entertaining and sometimes surprising, and what has been achieved in the Asian market is a good example of the future of world-wide branding. If anyone is even vaguely interested in branding, and not just in Asia, I recommend you read this book.

Acts of Teaching: How to Teach Writing: A Text, A Reader, A Narrative
Published in Paperback by Teacher Ideas Press (June, 1993)
Authors: Joyce Armstrong Carroll and Edward E. Wilson
Average review score:

A must-have for the teacher of English
I have had the opportunity to meet each author in their New Jersey Writing Project in Texas Institute, and I must say this book is an absolute in the instruction of writing. Instead of forcing unreal formulaic writing upon our students, Carroll and Wilson are staunch advocates of voice in writing. If you are looking for a formula or gimmick to teach your students writing, this is NOT the book for you. Instead, Carroll and Wilson use tried and true techniques focusing on the reading-writing connection, pre-writing, and revision that work for students of all grade levels. As a new teacher, this book in conjunction with their Institute has been the most useful tool I have encountered.

Addresses all aspects of successful teaching pragmatically
Authors Carroll and Wilson focus on students AND teachers as writers. This text is critical to those who teach writing. It includes specific activities and strategies for prewriting, conferencing, revision, publishing. Included are many helpful journal articles. It is the most successful tool I've used in over 20 years of teaching students of all grade and ability levels. It is a MUST HAVE. In an empty classroom beseiged by flames, this is THE text I'd grab !

And They Call It Help: The Psychiatric Policing of America's Children
Published in Hardcover by Addison-Wesley Publishing (May, 1993)
Author: Louise Armstrong
Average review score:

The Child Called it
The Child Called It is a wounderful book to read. When I started to read it, it took me only three days to read it. My mom enjoyed it too.I would give this book to people who have a bad life, to show them they can live thourgh any thing.

Vivid yet rational reporting on child/adolescent psychiatry
As a creative and depressed young adult struggling to understand myself and the world around me, I was sucked into the psychiatric complex and spent three years in and out of for-profit psychiatric hospitals, on and off heavy psychiatric drugs. The experience crushed my faith in myself and snipped threads of hope that linked me to the future.

After my insurance ceased to pay for treatment, the treatment was ceased as well, and I was able to shakily resume the process of growing up. Reading _And They Call It Help_ gave me a socio-political and outside narrative background for why "psychiatric policing" occurs and why its natural effects in patients are a sense of disempowerment and helplessness.

Put simply, this book changed my life. It helped me move on after my own run-in with the mind police. If parents considering in-patient psychiatric treatment for their children and others who work with children and young adults could read this book, trauma caused by common psychiatric abuse and manipulation could be minimized and alternatives to expensive and spirit-killing treatments would be better explored and practiced.

Beyond Blame: How We Can Succeed by Breaking the Dependency Barrier
Published in Hardcover by Free Press (June, 1995)
Authors: Armstrong Williams, Thelma Howard Williams, and Malcolm S., Jr. Forbes
Average review score:

The honest truth
At first when I read this book I thought I would differ with the author due to our different political beliefs. However, I could not have been so wrong, Mr. Williams just explains that so many of todays youth want the easy way out and get rich quick by any means necessary. I agree with Armstrong that you have to understand the value of hard work in order to succeed legitimately in America, and just because we grew up poor and black is no excuse. The liberals of this country really hurt our community more than helping us by saying we as black turn to crime, because there are no alternatives. I grew up in a small city in Illinois, but I saw so many opportunities for myself to succeed and it did not come from wearing Tommy, Polo, DKNY or other top designer clothing. My success came from my knowledge through education, because education creates options not a life of fast living sell drugs.

Great advice, now how do you get young black men to read it?
Williams describes a "bad" young black man in Washington DC, who asked for help, and Armstrong wrote him insightful letters, giving ideal advice that, if followed, would "save" the young man and his posterity. I now greatly admire Williams and hope he can communicate his beliefs to many more "Brads" who need this help, who will change their lives for the better.

Must-read book
I thought this was an excellent book. It combined romance, mystery, and humor to keep me interested page after page. Plus, I learned a few things about Prohibition and the Jazz Age. I would definately recommend this book, along with the others in the 'Wild Rose Inn' series.

Great book!
Ever since her father died ten years ago, during World War 1, 17 year old Claire MacKenzie has managed the MacKenzie's Wild Rose Inn, which has been in the family since they first came to America from Scotland in 1685. Her younger brother's not much help - lately, he's been getting drunk all the time - and her mother seems frail and intimidated. When the town drunk, the father of Claire's best friend, Kitty, is found dead on his boat, it's clearly a murder. With the help of Hank, a young newspaper reporter she's in love with, Claire sets out to find the dangerous truth about his death - and learns some dangerous truths about smuggling and bootlegging in her own town.
